Is this filter at the correct location on this road?

Not sure

If no, why? Please select 'add something else' to provide more information

• I am concerned the filter will impact traffic on another road

If the space was used in other ways, how would you like it to be used?

• Could there be restrictions at busy times and more traffic calming measures rather than completely closing off the road access? It will have such negative impacts on the LTN border roads and cause disruption for residents across the area

If we were to introduce these filters, would you support Harborough Road being made two-way to enable access for local residents from both Valley Road as well as Sunnyhill Road?

• The benefits of this scheme are not clear to me. Certainly Gracefield Gardens, where I live, is not a busy road and I can’t imagine that reducing cars will have any material impact on cyclists, nor any impact on pedestrians or wheelchairs users who will continue using the pavements. The scheme will displace traffic onto boundary roads, increasing congestion and worsening air quality. This is a particular concern as there are a number of schools on Leigham Court Road (Dunraven Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form, Julian’s, Livity School). With more cars diverted onto this route, air quality for children at school will be worse. Please confirm that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child have been considered in this context. The LTN scheme will also create traffic pinch points- for example, in the purple section, all cars will have to go onto Streatham High Road via Pendennis Road, Leigham Avenue or Sunnyhill Road, making these roads and the small residential roads which lead to them busier. Newcome Gardens is a narrow residential street without space for two cars to pass, which I anticipate would become more difficult for cyclists to use when the LTN increases traffic volumes on this road. Similarly, the junction of Pendennis Road with Streatham High Road is already busy with places where is it difficult for two cars to pass, and adding more cars in the area would make it more difficult for cyclists to use and access the junction. There are a number of equality impacts which should be considered. Making the roads quieter may increase crime and the fear of crime, for example to women and older people walking at night. It would also make it more difficult for women to take taxis or to share car journeys with friends by requiring long diversions by taxis or friends’ cars. For example, a friend who lives in a different Streatham LTN now needs to get a taxi to pick her up or drop her off to the boundary of the LTN, as drivers as not willing to take a longer route to her home, increasing risks to women travelling alone. I note that Lambeth are considering an exemption for blue badge holders who are residents but I anticipate there would still be impacts on elderly and disabled people. For example, by making the journeys of carers, blue badge holders who live near but not in the LTN and need to travel in it, and older people who find active transport more difficult although they do not meet the threshold for a blue badge longer, more difficult, and more prone to traffic. There are also impacts connected to pregnancy and maternity. Pregnancy and maternity make active travel more difficult, as many pregnant women find walking long distances more difficult, and walking or cycling with one or more small children is more challenging. There are not public transport routes on the majority of these residential streets, so people who can’t use active transport means will still be required to drive, just on longer journeys and likely producing more pollution due to more congestion. Unclear benefits

• I am concerned the filter will impact traffic on another road

• I'm concerned for car and van drivers living on either Conifer Gardens or Leigham Avenue, who will have a very circuitous route to reach the top of LCR and travel on in the Crown Point direction and beyond. Recent changes to the junction of Leigham Avenue with LCR have been v beneficial to cyclists who can now make much more effective use of this Healthy Route, thank you LBL Cyclists, pedestrians and car/van drivers are now well able to be accommodated by leaving things as they are. An electronic noticeboard erected in the central reservation area at the top of Leigham Avenue, just in front of the No Entry sign, would be v helpful as an up-to-the minute indicator board of traffic congestion problems and serving as an advance notifier of upcoming roadworks on LCR and/or on neighbouring roads in the locality

• I am concerned the filter will impact traffic on another road

• I'm concerned for the unnecessarily adverse impact that this traffic filter will have by increasing traffic both at the top end of Gracefield Gardens and Ivyday Grove. The fact that Gracefield Gardens access to SHR will already be closed off - aside from these design proposals - as a consequence of TfL project in summer of 2024, inevitbaly means that the top end of Gracefield Garden will become much busier. Students travelling on foot to and from Dunraven School will not be negatively impacted by Culverhouse Gardens remaining open as both pavements are reasonably wide

• I am concerned the filter will impact traffic on another road

• Gleneldon Road is already one way away from SHR through to its junction with Shrubbery Road. A bus gate on Gleneldon Bridge will impact hugely adversely on the already very busy junction at the end of Stanthorpe Road with the A23. There is already rarely the opportunity to turn left on to the A23 at busy times of the day

• Whatever Valley Road's current road classification, it is effectively a connector road between Streatham Common North and Leigham Court Road. Any attempt to close off Valley Road to all through traffic will inevitably lead to a huge further increase in traffic levels on LCR - which can't cope with further traffic volumes and on Streatham Common North - already busy at peak times

• I am concerned the filter will impact traffic on another road

• A traffic filter here will have a hugely adverse impact on other roads in the locality and is unnecessary. The fact both that there is now a School Streets scheme in operation for Julian's School on Springwell Road and effective road humps all the way up and down Valleyfield means that speeding vehicles is not normally a problem and with far less accidents on account of speeding than has been the case at the top end of LCR

• No need to change the status quo whereby Harborough Road works effectively in its current format of being a one-way street
